I wonder why yaoi gets used as the opposite of yuri. because the origins of yurizoku, the word was made with the word barazoku from LGBT magazines in Japan. yuri & bara were words made ther but yaoi was a word made by hetero so I wonder why that word became popular & not the words made by LGBT

Hi, i copied my tweets to reply this, if you missed my thread, i hope you come back and read this! The fact that i just know "barazoku" right after reading this is shocking, i thought Yuri-Yaoi and Bara is merely another layer of genre. But after i did my little search, you`re right. By attributes, Bara is made by men and mainly for male audience; Yaoi is made by and catering for woman, and likely to be vid in woman perspective. Well that explain why sometimes Yaoi is a bit offβ€”very much of stereotypingβ€”while Bara isn`t. I think, it would be better if we could use the original term, Yuri-Bara, but like i said ... Bara is reclaimed into w new definition, it`s known as genre now. It will be difficult to emphasize its real meaning and spread the word. But at least you made me know the real thing, thank you for sharing with me!!
